Cheerleader in the family!

I guess I should take a picture of her so I could post it, but Amelia made cheerleader for her middle school yesterday.  She is over the moon excited.  This has long been a goal of hers and so we are happy that she made the squad.

It's been a really busy spring, which would be why I haven't updated in such a long time.  My department chair announced her retirement in March and I decided to apply to teach the AP Government.  I found out on my birthday that I was chosen, so there's some more work for me!  I'm happy, but also a bit scared--I now have a very intimidating outside control and judge on my quality of delivery.  I will go for training for a week in June.

I applied for an NEH funded workshop this summer as well and found out at the end of March that I was chosen for that.  I am very pumped up about this.  They could only choose 15 teachers in the whole nation, so I feel especially honored to be one of the few chosen.  It is a 2 week workshop in Washington, D.C. on the war powers and separation of powers (Congress and President).

We definitely decided to go to Serbia for the ballet intensive again.  Eleanor will leave with her group on July 13.  I will be in DC at that time and will fly out on the 19th to London, then overnight in London and on to Serbia on the 20th.  We are going to stay until Saturday, the 26th and then fly back to London to stay for a week.  I have rented us a studio flat in Kensington for the week and we are both very excited and happy about our choices even though we had originally thought we would spend at least a few days in Munich too.  Eleanor wants to see Spamalot, I want to see something else too.  We think we will have a terrific time!

We have finally found a plumber to take care of fixing the two showers that were leaking in our house too--we haven't used either one for almost 2 years now--been relying on the one in Eleanor's room.  I am here waiting for them to finish for the afternoon and then will go and pick up the children from ballet rehearsal.  We plan to see friends dance in Swan Lake tonight from their old studio; tomorrow we will go and see Grease at the high school.  Busy weekend...

Oh, and Olivia consented to a haircut finally.  She was looking really straggly.  The hairdresser I use couldn't see her until next Friday and she didn't want to wait so we went to Head Start.  She browsed through the hair cut books and found something she liked.  They were able to make her look much neater and fuller--her hair is so fine and thin.  She looks really cute.

I'm going to run now.  I'll try to update more frequently!
